How keyword matching works in AutoDMs

Choose how SocialGrow recognizes keywords, phrases, and message patterns before sending an AutoDM.

AutoDMs Updated August 26, 2026

Keywords decide which comments or messages should trigger an AutoDM. You can match one keyword, several alternatives, or every eligible message.

Match every message

Choose the option to reply to every comment or message when the automation should run without a keyword filter. This is useful for a simple welcome or information reply.

Match specific keywords

Add the words or phrases people are likely to use. You can configure:

  • Phrase matching for a keyword or phrase appearing in the message.
  • Exact matching when the message should match the keyword itself, with punctuation and emoji around it tolerated when enabled.
  • Multiple keyword groups when the message must contain one keyword from each group.
  • Excluded keywords for messages that should never trigger the workflow.

Use natural phrases your audience already uses. If you promise “comment GUIDE,” add guide as the keyword rather than a long sentence.

Test the workflow before launch

Review the trigger and keyword summary in the final step. Check the message, content scope, and exclusions before choosing Launch.

If an AutoDM does not trigger, first confirm that the workflow is active, the correct account is selected, and the comment or message matches the configured scope.
